Role Summary
Responsible for configuration, maintenance, monitoring and growth of the core infrastructure.

REQUIREMENTS

Thorough knowledge of:

• Network protocols (ISIS, OSPF, BGP), routing and switching in the telecommunications industry.
• Cisco hardware (ISR's, ASR's) and software (IOS, IOS-XE).
• Technologies including, Ethernet, L2VPN, EPL, EVPL, MPLS, L3VPN, VSS, IPV4, IPV6.
• VMware, ESXi, vCentre
• SAN/NAS
• SDWAN
• Experience virtualizing Cisco devices (CSR1000v)

Skills

• Understanding of networking protocols and debugging
• Analysis of network data flows and outputs
• Understanding of network design and best practices
• Implementation of cutting-edge technology -RFC 2544, BERT, ITU-T [URL Removed]

Essential Skills

• VMware, ESXi, vCentre
• SAN/NAS
• SDWAN
• Experience virtualizing Cisco devices (CSR1000v)
• RFC 2544, BERT, ITU-T [URL Removed] (EtherSAM) & Chariot Testing methodologies definite advantage

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
CCNP (R&S)

Experience

• 10 Years active experience in a Telecommunications/Internet Service Provider environment (routing and switching)
• Experience in a global network preferable
• At least 2 years' experience in virtualization projects
• At least 2 years' experience in Ethernet service implementation and testing (RFC2544, [URL Removed]
• Must be willing to work weekends shifts on a monthly basis
• Must be willing to work flexible shifts and overtime
• Able to travel domestically and internationally on a regular basis

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS & INDICATORS

Availability of Infrastructure

• Monitor hardware to ensure availability and accessibility of core infrastructure devices
• Respond to alerts on IRIS and implement appropriate corrective action
• Diagnose root cause of problem and make appropriate recommendations on solution

Measurement of Core Capacities & Environmental variables

• Monitor and ensure capacity planning is maintained
• Ensure accurate and consistent measurement of general health, CPU, temperature and memory within core SLA parameters

Maintenance of Infrastructure

• Ensure optimal IGP routing paths, with primary and secondary active segments
• Ensure optimal recovery between hardware architecture
• Provide information to the NOC regarding the Customer impact, duration, estimated impact and recovery strategy

Core Growth and New Services

• Achieve core activations, turn downs and turn up
• Achieve upliftment / upgrades tasks per country
• Service Location Optimization

Research and Development
