Introduction Oxford University Press is looking for a Schools General Publisher to lead the research, proposal, development, and delivery of strong, market-facing, curriculum-aligned products for the Schools Markets in Southern Africa. The Schools General Publisher will be responsible for ensuring that proposed products are well-positioned to meet the strategic objectives of Oxford University Press as well as to achieve market approval, sales, and profitability targets.

Specification As the Schools General Publisher you will be responsible for:

Contribute to the publishing strategy for schools and home Learning product across southern Africa.
Plan and manage market research to inform strategic decisions.
Keep up-to-date with market trends and forge strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Design, commission and publish innovative print, digital and blended products that meet market needs, have an impact on learning, increase market share and contribute to profitability.
Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on take-to-market strategies.
Plan and manage budgets and schedules


Requirements 3 years’ relevant working experience
a relevant degree
Experience in product development is essential
Can demonstrate a strong network of relevant contacts
Can demonstrate a track record of conceptualizing and delivering high-quality print and digital products for schools and/or home learning in multiple markets in southern Africa
Excellent time and project management expertise
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to think and act quickly, negotiate challenges and troubleshoot solutions under pressure
Code B driver’s license essential
