We have a flexible contract opportunity for an immediately available publications designer.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinating with client and the publication team on projects including other designers, project managers, proofreaders, and DTP.
• Interpret client briefs accurately while maintaining a creative flair.
• Able to handle a project from brief to final product. From concept, to execution, to proofreader corrections, to client feedback.
• Turning boring, long-format raw text into beautiful publications, both in print and digital.
• Interpreting information for infographic and illustrative treatment.
• Converting print documents into interactive digital PDFs.
• Conceptualizing and executing new page layout ideas while staying within CI guidelines, finding new ways to innovate and to delight client.
• Presenting the final design to the team and to client.
• Examining page proofs for final print approval and assuring excellent quality.

Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or similar.
• 5+ years of experience as a layout designer or graphic designer.
• Proficiency with industry desktop publishing tools including Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
• Excellent composition and visual design skills.
• A deep understanding of typography and typesetting principals.
• Experience in annual reports
• Artistic, creative and digital illustration skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Design portfolio that proves track record on relevant projects.
• Contactable references.
