Job overview

Movable Asset Manager play a pivotal role in being responsible for selecting and
maintaining fleet vehicles
Manages the operation and maintenance of the organizations motor vehicles and plant
fleet.

Job Responsibilities

General Duties:

  • Develop and maintain asset registers, including; acquisitions, maintenance
    management, transfers and valuations
    Execute and monitor the implementation of asset acquisition, maintenance and
    disposal plans in accordance with respective approved plans
  • Plan and execute the asset verification, investigate and report on variances, make
    necessary recommendations to resolve discrepancies, and update the asset register
  • Develops and implements vehicle and equipment preventative maintenance programs
  • Develop and maintain outside vendor and service provider relationships
  • Resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with
    other departments - liaison with sites are on-going
  • Liaison with Project Teams regarding plant needed for site ensure plant adhere to site
    safety specifications
  • Rugania - manage and control all vehicles and plant services and parts and
    consumables needed.
  • Assist with planning and execution of re-building and refurbishment of vehicles and
    plant
  • Maintain the responsibility as the Proxy over all the fleet.
    Maintenance of vehicles
  • Oversee the process and check that renewal of licenses are processed timeously
  • Check that all vehicle inspections are being done twice a month
  • iTrack - write the permissions on the system to create alerts according to management
    specification
    Maintenance of yellow plant, trucks and trailers
  • Check that operators fill out check lists not only in time, but also correctly filled out.
  • Analyse request for parts and repairs before action is taken
  • Prioritise the faults that has been reported on check lists and identified what the
    problem is
  • Follow up on outstanding items on purchase orders and search for parts if required
  • Take immediate action on break-downs to ensure timeous solutions and minimize down
    time of plant or vehicle
  • Manage the process of receiving data and input of data with regards to hours and/or
    kilometres worked - ensure timeous services and check against warranty schedules
  • Manage the maintenance of containers used as site offices or ablution facilities
  • Manage the maintenance of mobile cranes
  • Manage the maintenance of overhead cranes - labelling, load testing, repairs, check
    lists and C&I for electrical wiring faults
    Rula Asset Register
  • Check and control all mileage inputs and licensing information is up to date.
  • Maintain and follow up on load testing and calibration of applicable vehicles
  • Oversee data inputs and referencing to be updated and correct
    Mechanical services
  • Weekly planning and prioritising of work to be done
  • Maintain service roster for services from data received on km/hours worked
  • Manage and transfer purchasing information from mechanic to data Master Copy on
    system

  • Control stock and manage re-order quantities
    Procurement process

  • Sign off all purchase orders created - check that the precise item has been ordered
  • Oversee updating of expense schedules twice monthly
  • Check fleet card Absa Statement and recons are done correctly take immediate action
    on discrepancies Information management
  • Ensure Original approved order is filed
  • Copy of order to be saved electronically
  • Allocation of order number in the Order Book
  • Assist and oversee the Buyer's File for payment procedures to follow
  • Ensure cost schedule is correct before submission.

Suitable formal qualifications, experience and knowledge required

  • Diploma or degree - technical preferred above supply chain
  • BComm/BBA - Logistics and Supply Chain Management (NQF Level 07)
  • BTech - Logistics (NQF Level 07)
  • BTech - Engineering: Mechanical (NQF Level 07)
  • National Diploma: Procurement and Supply Operations (NQF Level 05)
  • It is imperative to have technical knowledge and experience - must be able to
    read from manufacturing engineering plans and drawings
  • 5 Years Experience in logistics or supply chain management
  • 5 -10 years Job related skills and abilities required
